Also, this is for my non-sci-fi universe.

Lingerie & Confessions
By Matt Boyd
She has known her for twenty years, best friends their entire lives. The toughest thing about it was for Rain to figure out a way to tell Miss Oblivious how she really felt about her. She was so afraid that Kit would reject her and end their life long friendship, if she found out her true feelings for her. Not only did Rain keep her attraction and love, a secret from Kit Medford, but she kept them from everyone, except her favorite stuffed animal.
The young chiropteran tried subtly to hint to her marsupial roommate; however Kit was oblivious as a stone, and simply assumed Rain was being a silly fruit bat. Even when Rain Jennifer Hatchett blurted out “I love you,” her roommate confused it as “best friends” kind of love. Today Rain decided to try some not-so-subtle flirting, maybe then Kit would finally catch on. Nobody else was home and Kit was studying in her room quietly. This afternoon was her best chance to spend time with Kit. She loved and craved Kit for years; she wanted to be more than best friends. Rain wanted to be her girlfriend–her lover. Her heart fluttered at the thought.
She had gone through the plan in her head, repeatedly, for the past two weeks. To be honest, it was more of a fantasy than a plan . . . but she finally built up the courage to go through with it. Rain examined herself in the tall mirror, her golden-yellow eyes scanning every inch of her petite body. Posing in her new white lingerie, she inspected herself from every angle. Her short, tan hair was combed just right, her wings looked good and her lingerie felt sexy. However, she glowered at her flat chest. She puffed up and stuck her chest out in a hopeless and silly attempt to look larger.
Rain exhaled a heavy sigh and shook her head. She knew that trying was pointless. I can’t make a mountain out of air, she thought. It would probably be obvious if she stuffed her bra with tissues, and a bra full of potatoes would be . . . well, that would just be weird. She believed that Kit Medford had the perfect body. No way could she compare with an incredible figure like Kit’s, Rain felt scrawny, short and flat as a board, when standing next to her.
Rain did not know if Kit could ever be attracted to her, or to women at all. Kit has had several boyfriends over the years, with a gorgeous body like hers, she could get any guy she wanted. Kit Medford was definitely straight; that made Rain worry even more.
The chiropteran trembled with both nervousness and excitement. Rain wrapped herself in her lightweight robe and hesitated outside Kit’s door. Her heart raced and butterflies fluttered inside her stomach. Rain took several deep breaths and paced back and forth. She silently whispered, trying to convince herself to go through with this. Finally she knocked.
The young woman looked up from her book to see a cute bat nose, peeking in from behind the door. Kit invited her to come in; Rain was in her robe, looking nervous and awkward. Bright sapphires, behind glasses, met Rains’ golden eyes. The freckle-faced kangaroo was lying on her bed; a long blond braid rested over her shoulder. Rain paused to take in the sight of Kit’s perky, medium-sized mountains, hugged by a form fitting T-shirt.
Kit’s room was larger than Rain’s, even with a king-sized bed, taking up space. Her room faced the front of the house, while Rain’s room faced the backyard. College text books piled up on the desk, next to a binder filled with notes and homework. “What’s up, hon?” Rain froze. She damn near forgot everything she was going to say. Realizing that she had not replied, the petite fruit bat stumbled over her words, and hesitantly inched into Kit’s room; wings wrapped around her body unconsciously.
“I-er . . . just-um, I mean-I had recently gotten something special to show someone special?” Rain bit her lower lip, the pitch of her voice went up, and her statement sounded more like a question. The words she rehearsed in her mind so many times came out ungracefully butchered. “There’s um, only one person I could ever show it to and wondered if you’d like it.” She mentally smacked herself. Smooth . . . she thought sarcastically.
“Oh?” Curiosity filled her mind. Kit set her book aside and sat cross-legged on her bed. Kit’s warm smile gave her the confidence to continue. Suddenly aware that she had been hiding her body behind her wings, she took two steps forward and blossomed from her robe. The fruit bat gnawed her lower lip. She felt sexy, but knew she looked shy and awkward. Rain furled her wings, but she still covered her chest with her arms.
Rain turned three-hundred-sixty degrees, showing off her lace panties with a thin delicate bow, tied in back. She slowly trailed one hand along her white stockinged leg, and then brought it back up to hide her chest again. Definitely surprised, Kit never expected that this was what Rain wanted to show her. Stunned, she failed to notice Rain’s slight trembling. The chiropteran glided to her bedside. Slowly, she crawled onto the bed seductively; desire in her eyes. She inched slowly toward Kit.
Her heart pounded fiercely; both young women held their breath in silence. Rain leaned in closer, intoxicated by her roommate’s feminine scent. Eyes half closed, her lips begged to kiss, like in her dreams every night. She could feel herself get wet with excitement, her body hungered desperately to be touched, and to touch the gorgeous body in front of her, in body, heart and soul. Rain wanted her . . . now. The ache from between her legs and her heart were unbearable; no one but Kit could satisfy her. Confused, Kit leaned back slightly, but Rain pressed forward. One hand brushed past Kit’s tail, the other hand soon rested atop Kit’s. The kangaroo’s hand was soft and warm. Rain tilted her head slightly to the side, her lips parted and she closed her eyes.
“What the hell are you wearing?!” Rain’s heart stopped. Wide-eyed and still holding her breath, she heard those crushing words. Her lips were an inch away from Kit’s. She felt her warm, calm breath against her lips. Shock and pain showed in Rain’s eyes. It took a moment to process that it was not Kit’s voice that shouted those devastating words. Gold and sapphire orbs shot toward Peter Hettick’s guffaw from the doorway. The eighteen-year-old fox was bent over, laughing hysterically, slapping his knee vigorously. Rain’s eyes darted back to Kit, whose calm, yet still confused, expression contrasted strongly with Rain’s mortified countenance.
“Did I interrupt your lesbian sex show?” Peter chuckled.
“Huh?”
“No, it’s not!” Kit and Rain spoke simultaneously, but Rain’s response was clearly defensive, her face flushed. Peter tried to speak, but was gasping for air; his words lost in his fit of laughter.
“No, seriously, what the hell? What’s with the batty outfit, Rain?” The horribly embarrassed chiropteran turned away sharply. She hugged her body tight and her wings again concealed her petite frame.
“What I wear is none of your business!” Her voice cracked with emotion. She glared at Peter with half her face hidden behind her shoulder.
“Hey-!” Kit started to scold the fox, but another voice interrupted her, coming from the hallway. It was Kyle Suggs.
“Yo Kit! Peter and I were just about to head to the game store to pick up the new Hyper Erotic Virgin Fighters Four EX Omega! You wanna come with–what’s so damn funny?” The pudgy, bearded, yellow furred rabbit combined the two questions, seamlessly into one sentence.
“Get out!” Kit and Rain shouted in unison. Kit’s tone was filled with annoyance and a little hint of anger; Rain’s voice had rasped louder than before. Peter Hettick turned toward the confused bunny, grinning wide.
“Dude–Rain’s virtually naked! I just walked in on her, stripped down to her underwear, trying to make out with Kit!”
“No, I wasn’t!” She lied. Kyle blinked; looked at Peter, glanced at Rain, curled up tight, glaring, then to Kit, glowering at the two males. Then quickly Kyle averted his eyes, threw his paws up and knew Peter just put the nails in his coffin.
“Sorry! I see nothing! Nothing!” Kyle quickly retreated into the hall and away from the potential wrath that was soon to tear its way through the doorway. Kyle knew from experience that Rain gets really serious sometimes from friendly teasing. Judging by the two golden daggers that she threw at him, he guessed that she was righteously pissed-off.
Tears blurred her vision. Rain wanted to scream at Peter, but the words were lost in her throat. Crushed, she couldn’t hold it in much longer. Her pointed nose wrinkled, her face contorted, lips quivered, and her emotive bat ears drew back, tightly behind her head. She slapped him hard, then tucked her face under her wings and stormed out of Kit’s bedroom. Peter heard her whimpering as she pushed past him.
“Huh? Hey! I was only kidding! C’mon!” he called after her. Rain escaped to her room and slammed the door behind her. The fox was quickly greeted with a swift, and well deserved, donkey punch. “Ow! Hey! I’m sorry, OK?”
Kit glowered at the fox. “Don’t apologize to me; you need to apologize to Rain!” Guilt sank into Peter’s stomach. Peter didn’t intend to hurt Rain’s feelings. The fox was only having a bit of fun. Kit marched down the hall. She turned to the fox: “You stay here,” her voice firm, then turned to the rabbit and pointed at Peter: “And make sure he doesn’t leave.” A witty quotation from an old British movie came to Kyle’s mind, but he wisely kept it to himself and only nodded.
Kit quietly hurried past the bathroom and tiptoed toward Rain’s room, at the far end of the hallway. She waited a few moments, listening. Gently, she put her hand against the door. The silence was loud enough to kill a cow, then the growing wails of the fruit bats sobbing filled the room. Kit closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It broke her heart to hear Rain cry. Hesitant, Kit knocked so softly that it was almost inaudible.
Hurt swelled from her core. Rain collapsed onto her bed, tears streaming down her face. The lump in her throat prevented her from crying aloud, until the feeling in her chest overflowed, flooding past the lump. She buried her face against her stuffed animal and sobbed. Stupid! Stupid-stupid-stupid-stupid-stupid-stupi
Holding back her hiccups for a moment, she sat up on her twin sized bed. Rain looked down at herself with disgust. She could never wear something sexy like this. Teeth clenched, she yanked off her stockings and threw them into the closet. From her dresser, Rain dug up her baggy winter clothes, and shoved the white lingerie to the darkest pits of the bottom drawer.
Pulling up her dark blue jogging pants, Rain thought she heard the faintest knock on her door and paused. “Rainy?” her roommate’s gentle voice called softly, “Hon . . . can I come in?” Rain didn’t answer. Instead, she skipped putting on her T-shirt, and rushed to pull on her dark grey hoodie, but got tangled halfway.
Carefully Kit peeked inside her room to find Rain, half naked and struggling to get her wings to fit through the Wing-Span sleeves. Kit slipped through the door and locked it behind her. Rain, with her back toward her best friend, muttered under her breath, frustration growing.
“Here . . . I got it.” Kit helped her unbutton the snaps on the Wing-Span flaps; sniffling, Rain let out a heavy sigh. Being a bat, she needed special clothes for winged people. Most of her jackets, sweaters and some of her shirts, needed a special flap on the back to let her wings through. It was always a bit challenging and very annoying. The chiropteran’s wings slid through the flap, and Rain tugged the hoodie down to cover her mid-section. Her roommate buttoned the snaps of the sleeves, all the way up to the elbows of her wings. Rain mumbled a “thank you.” She took a grey cap that rested on the head of a small desk lamp, and pulled it down low, hiding her face under the bill. With a stuffed animal clutched to her chest, Rain slumped down into the far corner next to her twin-sized bed. Kit by her side, wrapped her arms around Rain. Hesitantly, she leaned into her embrace.
“I’m so sorry, hon . . . Pete’s just being a dumb ass. I don’t think he meant to upset you.” Another wave of sobbing washed over her. Gently Kit rocked and hushed her friend. For forty minutes, neither of them spoke until Rain calmed down a little.
“I should have known better than to try on that stupid thing . . .” her voice was weak.
“Don’t say that Rainy . . . I thought you looked very sexy in that lingerie.” Rain’s face lit up and a quivering smile crossed her lips. She would have jumped for joy, if she wasn’t so tired and drained. “Who is the lucky boy?” Her smile dropped away and resisted the urge to smack herself in the forehead. After all that, Miss Oblivious still hadn’t caught on. Rain lowered her eyes and shook her head.
“Nah . . . Never mind. I didn’t buy it for anyone; I just . . . wanted to show it to you, that’s all.” She sighed.
“Well, I think you don’t have to feel so self conscious about it. You looked really cute in it. To be honest, I’ve always thought you had a nice body. Before the dork burst in like that, I admit . . . I was kind of turned on.” Rain looked up again, both of them blushed. Rain’s heart raced again; taking her cap off, she looked up into those sapphire eyes.
“I’m in love with you.” She said it.
“I love you too, hon.” No, she still didn’t get it. Kit didn’t catch the “in love” part. She couldn’t bear to have just the “best friends” love anymore; she wanted and needed more. Her body trembled, breathing sharp, and tears welled in her eyes again.
Without thinking, Rain sprang up and kissed her hard on the lips. She opened her eyes after breaking away to see Kit’s reaction. Wide-eyed, blushing and slack jawed, she stared in shock. Damn. She just destroyed the best friendship she has ever had in her life. Dammit-dammit-dammit-dammit-dammit-dammi
“Uh . . .” was all Kit could utter, still digesting what happened.
“I’m so sorry . . .” Rain clung to her roommate tight and bawled against her shoulder. Her fingers dug in hard, desperately not wanting to let go, fearful she would never be able to hold her again. “I’m an idiot . . . I should never have done that!” A moment of hesitation, then a pair of hands gently stroked Rain’s back. Kit cradled Rain, rocking slowly; her shirt was damp with tears. Everything suddenly made sense: Rain’s odd behavior at times; the looks she gave her; the gifts for no apparent reason; the flowers; the erotic underwear she bought her last Christmas, and nervously explained that it was a silly gag-gift . . . Rain was madly in love with her! How could she have been so blind? Kit felt like an idiot for not noticing sooner.
“You . . .” Kit paused, forming the words in her mind. Rain leaned back, wiping the blurriness from her eyes, and looked back at the beautiful, freckled face. “You love me in a . . . lesbian way?” Rain couldn’t help letting out a tiny giggle.
“Yeah . . . for a really long time now.” Finally.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me that you felt this way?” Rain stifled a laughing fit.
“I tried.” Twenty-three times.
“Wow. I never really thought about it like this before. So . . . you want us to become girlfriends–lovers?”
“Yes! I thought you’d never ask.” Rain thought she’d never catch onto her flirting. “I love you so much, Kit . . . ”
“I love you too, sweetie.”
Happiness and excitement shivered through her body, hidden underneath all the baggy clothes. They held each other in a tight embrace. Rain felt her new girlfriends warmth, radiating from her body. Breasts pressed against her, she focused on every breath. The two exchanged a kiss, and then another, each kiss became deeper than the previous. Rain’s tongue parted Kit’s lips, taking in her taste. Kit brushed her blond bangs from her eyes and shared her tongue with Rain’s.
Hands raked across Kit’s back, wandering down her sides; one hand found it’s way to the back of her jeans, unbuttoning the snap of the tail hole. Kit leaned back against the bedside and slid down slightly. The chiropteran’s hands lightly grazed past perky breasts, and up to hold Kit’s face, for yet another deep kiss. Rain straddled Kit, her fingers combed through strands of blond hair. Kit held Rain’s hips; she never imagined she would have an experience like this with her best friend. She found herself more turned on than she’s ever been. Kit was very conscious of her incredible wetness, soaking through her panties.
Rain cupped her breasts, massaging them. Her lips caressed Kit’s jaw line and trailed down to her neck and shoulder. Exhaustion took its toll; Rain sighed and buried her face in Kit’s shoulder. This was too good to be true; she wanted to fall asleep in her arms. Kit stroked her short hair. From this close, Rain’s hair had the slightest tint of red; from any other distance it looked tan like the rest of her fur. Kit breathed in a slight vanilla scent, from the bat, nuzzled warmly against her body; the sweet smell mixed with that of her old wooden dresser. Her winter clothes had been packed away for months, and the scent of the drawer lingered. Rain’s breathing slowed and she appeared to have dozed off.
“Hon?” she whispered.
“Hmm?”
“I’ve got two dorks in the hallway. One who is hopefully having a hell of a guilt trip, and another who is no doubt anxious to go video game shopping.” Kit smiled. The drained chiropteran gave a slight giggle and stretched. “We’ll talk about us a little later. Right now I should cut them loose to do their shopping, but I want Pete to apologize first.” Rain stood up and wiped her damp eyes.
“Okay, but have him come back later. I’m feeling tired right now. Besides I want to let him think about it some more.” She gave a slight, half grin. Kit rose, buttoned the tail hole snap on her jeans that Rain was exploring, and kissed her cheek.
“I’ll take care of them.”
“Thanks.” Kit left the room and immediately Rain heard muted scolding through the door. Hugging a pillow, Rain snuggled up on her bed. Seconds after closing her eyes, she was fast asleep.
Peter felt like crap. It bugged him that he couldn’t apologize right away. Guilt nagged at his conscience all day long; he couldn’t even enjoy waiting in line at the game store. Kyle was excited along with all the other fighting game nuts, who have been waiting anxiously all year for the game’s release. Peter could still feel the phantom sting of Rain’s smack that hit him more on the right side of his neck, rather than his face. He had never been slapped before, and was embarrassed that he did something so stupid to deserve it. He couldn’t wait to go back to the girls’ house and say he’s sorry. The fox didn’t even want to be the first to play their new copy of Hyper Erotic Virgin Fighters Four EX Omega . . . not until he got rid of his guilt.
The drive back couldn’t have gone any slower. He tapped his foot anxiously as they finally pulled up to the house. Kit was in the living room, having a cup of tea and reading. Peter let out a frustrated sigh when he heard that Rain was asleep. The two boys went back to Kyle’s apartment to try out their goodies. Kyle played first; Peter opted to watch for a bit instead. Their new game was full of anime characters in skimpy costumes, beating the crap out of each other. Kyle asked if Peter wanted to join in and have a two-player showdown, but he just wanted to hurry up and apologize to Rain first. A few hours of watching the game, he was getting really anxious to play.
Peter decided to call them to see if he could come by. Kit answered; she said it was okay, and that Rain was awake now. Kyle drove him to the house. Kit told them that Rain was in her room. The two boys walked down the hall, Kit stayed in the living room. The bearded rabbit stopped Peter just before they reached Rain’s door.
“Careful when you go in there . . . because A, she might be naked, and B, she might still be annoyed.” Kyle mocked a British accent, like his current favorite comedy–horror movie. Peter raised an eyebrow, clearly missing the movie reference. Philistine . . . Kyle thought,.
Peter knocked, the sound of video game music muted from inside. “Come on in.” Her voice didn’t sound upset anymore. The fox opened the door, Rain was sitting on the floor, dressed in depressingly grey, baggy clothes with a cap pulled down low, and a cordless video game controller in her hands. He bit his lower lip nervously.
“Hey look . . . I’m really sorry about what I said earlier–”
“Hey, I’m sorry too.” Kyle interrupted from behind him, in the doorway.
“I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings, okay?”
“Apology accepted.” She said, her eyes still hidden under the bill of her hat.
“I’m really sorry . . . really. Is there anything I could do to make it up to you?” Arms crossed, she breathed a silent pause.
“Well, maybe . . .” She thought for a moment longer. “How’s that new game you got?” Peter blinked. Was she changing the subject?
“It’s pretty cool; I haven’t played it yet though–”
“Dude! It’s awesome!” Kyle added, leaning over Peter’s shoulder.
“How about I borrow it for, let’s say . . . two weeks?” The two boys turned bug-eyed.
“What?” The pair said in unison.
“But we just bought–”
“Yeah, that outfit was brand new too. You boys were not supposed to see it and I’m really upset with what you said.” The pair glanced unhappily toward each other. It was time for their punishment; though Kyle didn’t see why he had to be punished too.
Two weeks passed; Peter and Kyle had been going to another friend’s house to play the game of which they had been deprived. Now that their punishment was over, it was time for a girls-against-guys showdown. The boys honed their skills as much as they could, but clearly underestimated their opponent’s feminine wrath.
“Oh! Do it-do it-do it! Otaku uppercut!” Rain skillfully executed a one-hundred-thirty-seven hit combo. The character she used was a secret character in the game: a three foot tall, gothic robot maid with a massive, nuclear powered hammer, three times her size.
“Ouch! You’re gonna pay for that one, I’ve got a full power gauge and I’m good with Kari’s super attack!” Peter played as the female spaceship captain, notorious for her annoying cheese-moves. However, Rain either countered or preempted every cheap shot he threw at her.
“Oh yeah? How about a Super Atomic Ball Buster Attack!” The guys both flinched and shouted; Rain thoroughly trounced Peter in twenty-five seconds. She thrust her fist up into the air, victorious. It was a humiliating defeat for Peter. He had his tail handed to him by the smallest, and weakest, character in the game.
The miniature, robotic French maid twirled about in her victory pose and said “Shinu” in Japanese. The online scoreboard flashed on screen. Rain’s R.J.H. was ranked number seven; Peter and Kyle’s A.S.S. and X initials, ranked twenty-eighth and twenty-seventh from the bottom. The girls’ team had a perfect winning streak; the boys didn’t even win a single round; however, Kyle almost defeated Kit a few times. Rain declared herself the Queen of Fighting Games.
The two boys left after a couple hours, game disk in hand. “By the way,” Kyle started once they were in the car, “what did you say she was doing again a couple weeks ago? I kind of missed the whole scene. Something about an outfit and a sex show?” Kyle had wondered for a while, but never got around to asking about it, until now.
“I dunno. All Kit would say is that they were having girl talk, and I’m not about to ask Rain about it . . .”
“Huh . . .” They shrugged. No one spoke of the incident again and the boys never did figure out what was really going on.
The sun had set and the unstoppable duo was ready for bed. Wearing her usual sleep shirt, a long dark grey T-shirt with a thick, crimson cross on the front, Rain scurried through the dark hall to Kit’s room. A small desk lamp illuminated the king-sized bed. Already under the covers, Kit wore an oversized mans, white button-up shirt, with a white and neon-orange patterned panties. Long blond hair, no longer braided, cascaded past her shoulders. Rain snuggled into bed and turned off the lamp. Soft, red-orange strips of light from the street lamps blanketed the pair, through the blinds.
They quickly got used to the idea of being girlfriends, since they were all ready so close before. The two talked about their new relationship a lot over the past couple weeks, and decided not to tell anyone about it, for now. They steadily became more comfortable with one another and bolder each day. Ten days ago, they began sleeping together in Kit’s bed. Legs entwined, they shared a deep kiss.
“We made an incredible team today.” Rain smiled.
“We make an even better couple.” Kit grinned mischievously. Rain giggled and hugged her tight. Kit’s hand slid up the back of Rain’s thigh, pushing her shirt up quarter way. Her thumb hooked inside the waistband of Rain’s dark-green and black panties, the one with the white gear designs on the front and back. “Tonight’s the night . . . I think I’m ready, hon.” Rain’s heart raced with excitement. She shifted slightly, allowing her underwear to slide down easily. Kit rolled over onto her back, with one long leg wrapped around Rain. They shared tongues with another incredible kiss.
“I love you so much, Kit . . .”
“I love you too, hon . . .” Kit’s room filled with soft, blissful moans. A hand reached out blindly, from under the blankets, opening the third drawer of the desk. Feeling around in the darkness, the hand quickly retreated under the covers, with Rain’s most recent gift.
“Pete,” Kyle paused to sip his second Red Bull that afternoon, “we gotta win back our honor from the girls . . .”
“Yeah, they trounced us real good, yesterday.”
“I know . . . Dude, they haven’t stopped grinning like that all day!”
“Give me a few more days and I bet you I can beat them in a rematch, no doubt.”
“I dunno, the Force is strong with Rain, and I think she’s been teaching Kit some new moves.”
“Yeah, probably stayed up all night practicing. Why is it that the only girl gamers we know, have to be good enough to kick our asses?”
“I dunno Pete . . . I don’t know . . .” Kyle chugged the last of his Red Bull and tossed it into the recycle bin.
The End.

I do have a bit of a criticism, though--some of the sentences don't seem to flow very well, especially as far as narration style and chronology go. I think "Ten days ago, they began sleeping together in Kit’s bed.", for example, just feels awkward where it is and how it's phrased.
Thanks again for reading!
